About Pulse

Pulse is the intersection between music and health.

Between the arts and medicine. Between the concert stage and the hospital room.

Pulse is a collaboration between a music therapist and a performer with the goal of educating, illuminating, and expanding their intertwined worlds through inspiring performances, engaging talks, and innovative events for audiences of all ages and stages of life.

Pulse Music Media is a creative community built for both online and live-performances, conversations, story-telling, and idea-sharing about the intersecting worlds of music and health. Combining their two passions and areas of training, Andrew Ascenzo, a professional cellist, video and audio producer, composer, and educator and SarahRose Black, a music therapist, pianist, writer, and researcher, embarked on a mission to build a platform to house these ongoing conversations and to share them widely through live performances and narratives that highlight the incredible power that music has to change the world.

Pulse has collaborated with numerous organizations including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, University Health Network, Canadian Opera Company, Ottawa ChamberFest, Room 217 Foundation, University of Toronto, Centennial College, Toronto Public Library and many more. A new season of live performances and presentations will begin shortly!
